AES Indiana has announced that it will be re-powering two more units from coal to natural gas.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission gave the company the okay to transition Petersburg Units 3 and 4.
This change is expected to “save customers approximately $281 million over a 20-year period.”
It may also reduce carbon dioxide emissions and help the plants operate more reliably.
The company’s goal is to completely stop using coal by 2026.
