Wabash Valley Resources has obtained a loan of nearly $1.6 billion from the Department of Energy for its Vigo County project, bringing the total investment to $2.4 billion, which marks the largest project in the county’s history.

The project aims to produce 500,000 metric tons of anhydrous ammonia using petroleum coke and will feature permanent underground storage for carbon dioxide.

This historic investment is one of the single largest efforts to increase the supply of domestically produced fertilizer and displace the imported ammonia supply to the Eastern Corn Belt.
