Morning Updates

The Cubs and Cardinals are the best teams by positional players so far, wasn’t seeing that one coming. The Cardinals are playing a little better defense though, and by wRC+ the Cardinals are actually ahead of the Cubs on offense too. Not saying much, but could be something to it… the Cubs also have more fWAR because they’ve played more games. That said, our BABIP is WAY higher than the Cubs’.

The Cardinals have been scoring 5.63 runs per game this season. It’s been fun and a bit maddening, especially since we are actually not over .500. The Cardinals are really duking it out to see who’s best and ready for that .500 milestone yet again, with both teams now at 8-9. Today’s game starts at 12:15pm. Steven Matz gets his first start of the season, while Ronel Blanco tests the meddle of the Cardinals offense with his 6.94 ERA. They should be ready to hit again, unless they can only hit really good pitchers?
