A bill passed by the State Senate on Tuesday may end up kicking thousands of people off Medicaid.

The bill is an effort to address the state’s Medicaid funding shortfall.

State Senator Ryan Mishler, who wrote the bill, says the state is spending too much on Medicaid.

It would impose work requirements on Medicaid recipients and would cap the number of people who can enroll in the Healthy Indiana Plan at 500-thousand.

There are currently over 700-thousand Hoosiers enrolled.

The bill passed the Senate on a party-line vote of and now goes to the House.
