Daviess Co. Schools Receive State Safety Funding

Indiana is awarding more than $24 million to nearly 500 schools and districts across the state through the Secured School Safety Grant Program.

The grant program was created by the General Assembly in 2013 to help ensure schools are secure and students are safe.

In Daviess County, Washington Community Schools will receive $81,000.

Washington Catholic Middle/High School will receive $14,254.

North Daviess Community Schools will receive $17,000.

And Barr Reeve Community Schools will receive $12,150.

The funding will help schools:

• Employ school resource officers or law enforcement officers.
• Purchase security technology and equipment.
• Design and construct additions on school property for security purposes.
• Implement student and parent support plans.
• Conduct site vulnerability assessments.
• Provide firearm training for staff and/or Implement bullying prevention programs.
